Dholera Airport Update

The air terminal is being created in 1426 hectares area, with two runways, one is 3200 meters long and another is 4000 meters long. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is the owner of this airport, And the airport will be operated by the DIACL.

The Gujrat government has given 3500 meters of land for the project. After the work of the two phases will be completed then the third phase will begin. In the third phase, they planned to create the third runway.

The estimated cost for this airport is 1,305 cores in Indian Rupees. And the airport will be completed in December 2024 – 2025 (First Phase). The architect of this airport is not known yet/not fixed yet, we will update it after they appoint an architect.

Dholera Airport Tender & Current Status

The Airports Authority of India invited tenders for the Dholera Airport and they select Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES)’s tender. They got the tender for the “Engineering Consultancy Contract”

Then AAI let out the tender in 2021, which is Rs. 987 core for the first phase of the airport project. After that in June 2021, they invited tenders for the Technical part, and Varaha Infra Ltd. (A road construction company which is situated in Jodhpur) was the lowest bidder among all the bidders who gave the tenders.

Dholera Airport Latest News

The Dholera Airport’s construction work is going and it will be created or ready to serve in 2025 or 2026. It will be an international airport in Gujrat. The project will be completed by maintaining the Greenfield Airport Policy of the Government of India.

This is a Greenfield Airport project and it will be created near the Ahmedabad district. It will be 80 meters distance from the greenfield airport project to the Ahmedabad district.

“The airport will be able to serve 100 million passengers per year,” said Sanjeev Kumar, the chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The construction work for the first phase of this greenfield international airport has begun in January 2022.
